CJ is getting more interested to work with my laptop. When I work, She loves interrupting "Momma I want to type please, please, please"... Whenever we do video chat with grandparents, She starts momma "I want to message something" and starts typing. So I decided to add a daily activity - 30 mins of word document play
I opened a word document and let her play around typing. First she typed random, all A.. to Z, then she typed her name,... She was also trying to spell some words. After she filled a page, she was calling me to open a new page. Then I got an idea, I can teach her ctrl key option. I asked her to press the keys - ctrl and A (Select all option)***. She was super excited to see the highlighted words.
***Note: Be sure to watch the keys. Adult supervision needed!
I asked her to press backspace key. "Boo!" when all the words disappeared, CJ jumped out of the chair and said momma "That's a disappearing mystery!".
She played and played! I just told her the key strokes one time. I was amazed, how she remembered the keys!
As soon as Daddy entered home from office, CJ run to him and said "Daddy, Daddy come see, I have to show you something". Daddy was unable to resist, he walked straight to the laptop and watched the play.
CJ typed in everything and said "Daddy someone is calling you, attend the phone(Pretend phone). So Daddy had to pretend and She did her Magic trick, "Boo! Did you see that Daddy, where did the words go?"
Daddy grinned and said "wow! How did you do that CJ? teach me the trick!" and the Magic show continued many times... until daddy became tired:-))

Aaaah what a fun and sweet idea! Computers REALLY are magic. My son was "surprised" to see that my "website also existed in another country" (when we went on holiday and he saw it on a computer there)...

ReplyDeleteThat is such a good idea. My preschooler still isn't even handy using the mouse so I need to work with him on computer skills.
